Australian Interstate art travel finally brings me to Western Australia: My first visit brings me to the Art Gallery of Western Australia where Director Colin Walker and his team run a vibrant program, a great mix of International - and Australian Art, First Nation Artists and Non Indigenous Artists - emerging and established - side by side in an elegant building and great displays. And the audience responds and engages. A great institution with it’s own style and approach. Thank you Colin Walker and Curatorial Team Rachel Ciesla and Clothilde Bullen for taking me around.
Visiting APY Art Center Collective on Kaurna land. Learning more about First Nations Art, meeting some these major artists - senior and emerging - telling me about their practice, is a privilege and incredibly inspiring. And I clearly feel that the only way to connect with this wonder-full country that hosts my family and me, is to listen to it’s traditional custodians. To learn about the stories told through Australian First Nations Art. Once again in my life I let art take over and follow the artists lead. Thank for having me #nyunmitiburton #alfieceramicist #sallyscales #zaachariahafielding #josephinemick #sandrapumani #yaritjiheffernan

AAA Founder Matthias Arndt (@m.arndt) was so honoured to attend the opening and preview of Tomás Saraceno's (@studiotomassaraceno) solo presentation ‘Oceans of Air’ at The Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) (@monamuseum) in Hobart, Tasmania and meet with Saraceno. The multi-sensory show, which is open until July 24, 2023, includes both existing works and new commissions created specially for MONA, and is a call for environmental action on the Earth, its atmosphere and beyond. Inspired by knowledge systems that are rooted in their location, ecology, communication between species, the fight for climate justice, and more, Saraceno interweaves many scientific and artistic disciplines in search of shared understanding among the threads and tangles of worlds. The exhibition draws from his interdisciplinary approach, revealing the interconnectedness of art, our environment and contemporary life. We cannot recommend visiting this show enough if you are in Hobart!
AAA Founder Matthias Arndt was honoured to collaborate with Chinese, Berlin-based artist Xiyao Wang on her first solo project "The Endless Dream" in Australia and provide a bespoke tour of the Australian contemporary art landscape across various states.

Meanwhile in Auckland: GILBERT & GEORGE are staging their landmark presentation "Gilbert & George: The Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland Exhibition 2022". Often controversial, sometimes cheeky and always questioning, British artists Gilbert & George have been creating art together ever since they met in 1967 at one of London’s leading art schools. From the very beginning, they have appeared as subjects in their own art and shared a belief in ‘Art for all’. Exhibition current until the 11th of September.

"Without a doubt, if you ask me to name a contemporary painter, Jane Lee’s name comes to mind immediately... I admire her unceasing questioning and pushing at the boundaries of her art-making... She believes that only in letting go can one make new breakthroughs, and it’s thrilling to see where this will take her next." -Independent Curator, Tan Siuli

Meanwhile in Berlin: Sensus Communis is joining CODESS by UY with the VR installation Anti-Atlantis". On view at Halle am Wriezener Bahnhof, Berlin from the 15th to the 17th of July 2022.
The Sensus Communis team consists of previous Berlin Masters Foundation (@berlinmastersfoundation) participant and Schliemann Residency Winner (2020) EVELYN BENCICOVA (@evelyn_bencicova) alongside: Enes Güç (@enesguc), Zeynep Schilling (@zeydepth_2.0), Farahnaz Hatam & Colin Hacklander of LABOUR (@studio.labour), Joris Demnard and Manuel Farre of Ikonospace (@ikonospace).
The group are interested in multi-sensory analogies, memory, imagination, and notions of reality, specifically aimed at the medium of virtual reality while exploring the influence of multi-sensory immersive experiences on inducing conscious realisation.
“Anti-Atlantis" is an experimental multi-sensory installation at the nexus of immersive art and scientific inquiry that unites an interdisciplinary group of artists with Neomento, a leading virtual reality therapy and research group at Berlin’s Charite hospital. For this project, several participants are connected to the “source” via VR glasses and headphones experiencing individual, yet shared journey in ritualistic manner. The focus is on passage through dystopian vision of future, which could be still avoided by joined effort in creating the world we want to wake up into.
This project is has been realised with the generous support of the Arndt Art Agency (A3), Slovak Art Fund (FPU), and Callie’s Berlin (@calliesberlin).
Tickets and time slot bookings are available at: https://uy-codess.com/

Congratulations to Simone Yvette Leigh on receiving the Golden Lion Leigh for her monumental sculpture „Brick House“ which greets visitors in the opening gallery of the central exhibition in the Arsenale at the Venice Biennale, where Leigh also represents the U.S. at the American Pavilion. Titled “Sovereignty,” her exhibition there has served as one of this year’s highlights: In a dramatic makeover of the neoclassical, Jeffersonian building, Leigh covered the structure with a thatched roof inspired by a traditional African rondavel, in keeping with her subversive meditations on the legacy of Western colonialism. Inside, meanwhile, a mix of ceramics, bronzes, and video pieces provide a powerful overview of Leigh’s investigations into how women of the African diaspora have been represented across art history. - Matthias Arndt

"A visit to Del Kathryn Barton‘s studio in Sydney. Throughout the three year production of her first feature film, Del Barton has worked in her painting studio. While her film "Blaze" is coming to the film festivals and cinema‘s this year, Del is working towards two exhibitions in Australia and the United States. I get a sneak-peak into the new production, enchanted by these works in progress. Stay tuned." - Matthias Arndt

"There would be no artworld, no museums, galleries, collections and certainly no art without the artists creating the subject of our work and passion. The attention to detail in works by MARINA CRUZ is truly exquisite. Through her work, Cruz has continually explored an essential trait found within her homeland: the valued continuum that proceeds from close family ties among succeeding generations. Through her art, she is able to transpose the activity of one generation to the next: her grandmother’s dress- making, her mother’s fittings, and her own activity of painting. This closed cycle of familial undertakings, carefully pieced together and sympathetically presented by Cruz, has become rare in a world that has developed the propensity to reach outward rather than inward, due to the globalizing technologies.

I am delighted to announce that our Arndt Residence and Artbarn by CHROFI has been awarded the winner of the Award for Residential Architecture - Houses (New) as part of the Victorian Architecture Awards! This ambitious project has successfully intertwined our family home and our love of art with the addition the ARNDT Collection's Artbarn which houses our private collection. Set against the undulating landscape in Cape Schanck, Tai Ropiha, Director, CHROFI explains how "the design explores the intersection between architecture, art and landscape to create an elemental ensemble of spaces deeply connected to the unique landscape of Mornington Peninsula." Thank you so much to the wonderful team at CHROFI for realising this project for us. - Matthias Arndt

In addition to the book, Kennedy has also created a silent film, a series of 200 drawings, a 3-channel video installation and a virtual reality experience, each dissecting the complex code of bathing in a socio-cultural context.
Bianca Kennedy's first book "Let me draw you a bath" explores the theatricality of the bathtub and its many forms of expression in recent years.
