HOMECOMING
We are delighted to announce “Homecoming” curated by Polina Kosmadaki, opening on Wednesday the 29th of April, from 6 - 9 pm.
Venue: Arndt, Ithakis 31, Kypseli, 11257 Athens, Greece
The exhibition marks the inaugural project at the Salon and Private Artspace on Ithakis Street in Kypseli, bringing Greek and international artists into dialogue around return and the idea of home, echoing the mythic nostos of Odysseus.
Set within the listed Art Deco former residence of Odysseas Elytis, the space is activated as a site for artistic production and exchange, opening its layered history toward the present.
Artists include:
Absalon, Collectif MASI (Madlen Anipsitaki & Simon Riedler), Paddy Bedford, Sophie Calle, Henry Curchod, Maro Fasouli, Zaachariaha Fielding, Andi Fischer, Gregor Hildebrandt, Jeppe Hein, Thomas Hirschhorn, Tammy Kanat, Nikomachi Karakostanoglou, Emily Kam Kngwarray, Douglas Kolk, Sevastiana Konstaki, Maria Konti, Jean-Yves Klein, Jannis Kounellis, Alicja Kwade, Ioanna Limniou, Panayiotis Loukas, Heinz Mack, Nonggirrnga Marawili, Malvina Panagiotidi & Eva Vaslamatzi (Anacolutha), Jacopo Mazzetti & Unknown Artist, Polina Miliou, Maro Michalakakos, Desire Moheb-Zandi, Makinti Napanangka, Jonny Niesche, Ioanna Pantazopoulou, Ilias Papailiakis, Antonis Pittas, Yorgos Prinos, Magnus Plessen, Julian Rosefeldt, Nadine Schemmann, Kiriakos Tompolidis, Theo Triantafyllidis, Zandile Tshabalala, Jannis Varelas, Eugenia Vereli.
Curator's statement:
"The exhibition is an act of inhabiting, of layering presence upon place: a home infused with a universe of ideas, encounters, and artistic life. It is both residence and gathering, studio and stage, workshop and dialogue—a space where creation and conversation meet. The show aims to embed the new home with the universe he envisions—one that is at once a residence, a gathering place for conversation, exchange, and workshops, and a studio for artists seeking a space to work.
Drawing from the 19th-century salon as a site of intellectual exchange and poetry, and the 20th-century studio as a locus of solitary artistic creation and experimentation, Arndt Family Residence and Private Art Space embraces a contemporary hybrid model: a space where making and gathering intersect.
Homecoming stages a poetic space, in the spirit of Elytis, who once lived there, inhabited by artworks and gestures that navigate the thresholds between intimacy and publicity, word and image, past and future. Participating artists explore themes such as the domestic as a site, everyday rituals, and the translation of poetic form into artistic practice." —Polina Kosmadaki
Exhibition dates: 29 April–27 June 2026
Opening times: Thursday–Saturday, 12–8pm
